How It All Started

It all started when I decided to go on a mission trip to Guatemala with my church. Well, to travel with the team, each person will need $1,500... so I needed to come up with some sort of idea to raise the money.

I just got a sewing machine for Christmas and my grandma (Nanna) has been teaching me how to sew. I was looking at different websites that had to do with sewing and I came along this blog of a woman that was making dolls to take on mission trips. So I took that idea and made it my own.

I found out how many girls are in the program (approximately 100) and started making "The Kiki doll" (kiki is my nickname that little kids like to call me).

Here is how the process has developed:

1. I make the dolls and give them hair, a face and a cute dress.
2. Anyone can sponsor the doll for $25 or more.
3. The sponsor can choose to write a message on their doll and give her a name.
4. If the sponsor is local to GA, I would like to take a photo of the doll and the sponsor.
5. Once I get to Guatemala, I plan to take a photograph with the girls and their dolls and send the picture back to the sponsor as a prayer card.

My goal is to have a doll sponsored for every little girl in the "Hope for Guatemala" program.

Please consider sponsoring your personal Kiki doll over the next few weeks.

I am looking forward to seeing every little girl receive their doll from you and to know that we, together, have shared in God's love to them!!!

Pray for my trip, we will be leaving in April 2010.
May we each be changed by it!
